Problem viewing simulator

The application is already installed but when the simulator starts the screens starts to flashing and I can see anything

Which can be the problem?

The video card?
The resolution of the Screen?
I need another Driver?

I am new to FMS, just installed and have the same problem.

There's a known Nvidia driver issue with FMS.

The only fixes identified are to use a virtual screen with WinVista Win7 and ape XP or
replace the bottom image in a scenery file with an invalid .bmp file 1x1 works fine.

The issue as once reported was the bottom image file can either have a normal pointing
up or pointing down in the past and now with a normal pointing down, causes flashing.

Hello Ggunners, I use Vista and am also seeing the flashing screen syndrome when I try to start up FMS. Could I possibly ask you to elaborate on how and where to place the invalid .bmp file described in your above quoted fix.

With reference to the "virtual screen" with Vista, described first as an alternate fix, could you explain just how that works also, just in case the addition of an invalid .bmp file proves to be beyond my mediocre computer skills ?

The is on the Windows section of the forum.

The replacing the bottom image fix is for FMS 2 alpha 8.5 using a photolistic sky box scenery.

You will need to download a skybox scenery file. They are usually pretty large with 6 sides defined in the .scn file that is in the C:\ Program Files\ FMS\ Landscape\ directory.

In the Aero-Club_Bad_Oldesloe.scn file there are 6 texture files defined as _left, _back, _right, _front, _top and _bottom. You would edit the _bottom .bmp file and make it 1x1 pixels.

I have Windows XP and do not have any direct experience with the problems or solutions for newer versions of Windows.
