The above link is to a site that has photolistic scenery for free download.
You download them in a zip files too...nice!!!
Within each zip folder are 6 images files.
I download 20 scene.lol
There are formated as SKYBOX panorama.

What if i don't know how to make a .snc file ?....no problem

FMS has photolistic sceneries made in 3D skybox already.
You can retrive these scenes from RC-Sim.

Ratty, Riesa, In doors...just to name a few.

Just make a copy of the .scn file or just drag it out of the zip folder.
This way you'll always have a master .scn file

all you have to do is drag the folder out of those zip folder you downloaded from Humas.ca. This will creat a folder, then just drag
the .scn file from ratty or riesa.

now all you have to do is rename those 6 images exactly as it
in the master (ratty) folder
Ratty name those images as _left, _front,_right, _back, _up , _down

Riesa is in german i think.. ??

derriere(left), devant (front), droite (right), gauche (back), hant (up)
sol (down)

riesa has crash piont and a couple of objects...a car and a hut..lol
This way the down or sol image will get display

okay, now just resize all those images to 1024x1024 can covert to .bmp files

You're done..you can send it to a zip..so you'll have a an extra file.
Then just extract it like you would do with the models.
I chose to just drag and drop

Some of the files from Humsa are big.ol 2048x2048..
but that's okay...it means you'll get excellent quility or nice images
when you reduce it down to 1024X1024

Happy hunting and have fun !!!... building your photolistic sceries collections. I have hundreds of photolistic sceneries for FMS already.

Hi,

deep-linking to other peoples work is not exactly considered good style. It's better to refer to the parent site like this:

This way people instantly see you didn't make any of those images, just link to them.

That, and proper credit to the original creator would be due.

sorry about that but there's a text in all of those files
with the aurther's name stating their work and credit
Kind of like FMS..it's free
You can e-mail them and thank them if you want.

here's a sphere to skybox converter, if you come across those
360x180 canvas or photos. or don't like those photos, i posted.lol
You can simply google the images or go to Flirkr, a photo sharing site
with plenty of panoramas

mmm..make sure the length is twice as long as the hight..oki doki.
there' plenty of flying field sceneies. But i like this better becuase
the sky is not half painted out on the over head and you get a complete
picture of the bottom shot also.
Then you can learn how to map in objects later.

if you go into chase mode and take the model 500-1000 ft then
point it down...You'll see a box, it'll look funky but you'll get a
better idea of where to map crash pionts or objects.
The 3d game desingers are aware of that. Thats why they make the terrain burr to try to hind it.

Anyways..it's an R/C sim not a flight sim

notice the sample on the site ..it has a map of the earth.
then you see 6 images it converts to a skybox format.lol

outter space sceneries

Postby smcxx66 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 3:55 am

I found thses for those space models.

you might have to crop fantacy 5 to 1024x1024 yourself
but the rest has 6 images for the skybox in the zip folder.

again, you have to covert all the images to bmp files

Incase some of you don't know.
When you first load the skybox or photolistic in FMS , you'll get a
white screne. Not you worry.lol
click the the graphic, TURN OFF the fog (fog is use to hide the white background between the sky and terrain in regular FMS)

Click option, then just click OK, then the scenery comes up.

i use note pad to edit or open the .scn

for aircraft posistion, just change the number on the first colum
this will bring the model closer or further away.
To change the direction of the model just put a negative sign in front
of that number. The model gose behind you, but it's facing the opposite
direction.lol

How can you fix that ?
shaffle or rotate the skybox.lol

I chose to just assign m panels number . This way i can roate
those panels around easily.

Changing the names in the .scn file will allow you to do this.
#4 is alway sky, #5 is always ground. i rotate these two images
vai a paint software.

To figure out what sequence the images gose together. (4 side images)
I just use my thumbnail.lol

i made a master .scn folder with crash pionts and ZIP it.
This way i can just drag and drop those files into a new scenery.
it bascially extract it or copy.
Then I just rename my master .scn to whatever i want.

You can get it from the Riesa scnery. This scenery also has objects.
You can delete all those mesh number for objects. or you can
even replace those object images with your own. Then position
it to where ever you want.

if you're picky like me. You'll want the bottom panel to get display
even if you don't see it most of the time.

The Reisa scenery has a crash piont numbers and a crash piont
image..its just all black

I tried something different and it works great.

I edit the text in the .SCN file.

The quads size and the texture size

Why ? this way i can reduce memeory size of a scenery to 6mb
instead of 18mb, and use more avaliable sceneies.

Also by reducing the size of the .bmp, I don't have to look
for big images. By reducing 1024x1024 to 512x512 I also get
better looking images.

If i was to try to enlarge a 512x512 to 1024x1024...It would get
a blurr image, then you'll strat seeing the pixel break up or squares.
but I'm doing backwards to get a better projection of the image.
Not any different then reducing a wallpaper image, or zooming out.

I found alot of sphere/skybox images that are in 512x512.
Now i can use those too.

I test it already, the 512x512 images are clear as day in full
screen mode.

The aircraft and pilot position..well, I can use decimal pionts.lol
or everything gets caculated by 1/2.

In other words...in 1024x1024... posistion 10
in 512x512 posistion 5....puts me at the same place.

There are several photolist sceneries in RC-sim for FMS already
most have been converted from reflex

Reisa, Field, Arzier, indoors...just to name a few.

However they where improperly converted, that's why you see
those improper fisheyes effects or sqaure lines and the photograph
not matching.
Why ??? becuase the aurther that convertered them simply took
a refelx scenery file and crop it manually...wrong

The reflex panoramic/equiretangluar photographs are also missing
1024 worth pixel from the bottom. Basically they have been crop
off.

You need to add 1024 (hight) via increasing the total canvase size
from 8160X3060 to 8160 X 4080.
Again do not resize via just resizing the image...that's why you'll
get improper projection. You need to add.

Then load it into the sphere to skybox convertor.
Then you'll notice a circle for the bottom panel.
You'll also notice the aurther's name of the photo in water mark if you do it correclty. (on the bottom panel).

Obiviouly it's not for sale and you shouldn't be trying to make a profit
from it and the aurther has all rights to the photo and should get
credit for it. He posted it to share it.

Same as the photo you can get from flickr....serch under
Equiretangular and you'll see around 3000 availiable.
Most people do it as a hobbie

As in FMS is free and RC is a hobbie.
In my experince alot of people shy away from RC becuase it can
get expensive. They rather feed their family.
FMS is not a pos..it's just free, if anything it leave the door open
for people that's interest in RC but can't afford it.
Sense it's free develope is at a slow pace.lol

$500 along just for me to get started..back when
club fee, ama fee, plane, radio. field eq.

oki doki, that's an over head shot of an Aero club Red Dago and
pitt..no i can't see that guy butt crack, but I don't a have focus problem.
Obviously there's not an Aero club listed for FMS in RC-sim..not yet
anyways.lol

The raptor is skybox images you can get from PF
Clearview also use skybox

it's nothing new.

here's some screen shots of how i converted some of the reflex
sceneries and converting to skybox for FMS in general.

The photo shot of the shuttle is an image i got from Flickr,
very nice and i didn't have to bother painting the bottom panel.lol
you can't see the bottom panel most of the time..but sometimes
you do.lol

the example is Aero club (snow)
the one with the christain eagle is also a scenery ment for relex.
I think is a call a Local filed or something.lol
excellent work, very, very clean. No trees or objects in the way
like my local flying field.
