http://www.szenerien.de/HELI-X-Szenerien/

you can also look in the REFLEX's section of his site.
there's more sceneries . You can convert if you have
a CUBE converter.

Harald made almost 50 for Heli-x. Just convert them into .bmp files.
(24bit .bmp files)
at 2048x2048..it'll be 70-90mb
that's why I just scale it down to 1024x1024 for FMS..(19mb)
You don't need a CUBE converter..they are in skybox format already.

To get Heli-X's sceneries to project correctly in FMS..(if you want.)
Flip all the images horizontally. I use Artweaver.
Then assign the left as right....and right as left.

i use a numbering system to assign the names of the skybox images.
You can open the .scn via NOTEPAD to edit it...if you want.

left=0
front=1
right=2
back=3

4=top
5=bottom.

Aeromodelisme.org is another palce
look in the aerofly and reflex section.

http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... uage_tools

Here's the other place. You can get the Dolp right out of Heli-x
The diesterdolf version for Heli-x is clean...no models or objects
inserted into the pano
http://www.treichler.at/?Aerofly_Profes ... y_Download

The Reisa scenery original pano i got from RC-SIM in the Aerofly section

Same as the windmill scenery

To get the marbach scenery that's different from Heli-x's and Aerofly.
I just downloaded the Reflex's version. it's the same flying field...
but the photo taking at a different time of year.

another place to get Heli for FMS

heli-x use xlm to execute becuse that's the way the aurther program it.
and it's a totally different software.

FMS use .scn for scneries
.par for models.

make sure you convert the image into 24bit .bmp.
just download a batch file converter.
Artwaever convert into 24bit when you select bmp files

Window paint...gives you options of veriouse type of .bmp files.
Make sure you select 24bits.

Just download one of my scenery

The toyosu is in cube

Bascailly swap out the skybox images.

There's also a 3D file and a crash file.
I'm not sure what the 3D file is for...I'm assuming
it's for using 3D glasses.

The crash file you need..becuase it's ghost crash piont.
it'll make the bottom panel get display in Vista.

Incase i confused you. here's a picture
I use this same proceedure for all of my FMS photolistic sceneries.
I just rename the .scn file different. (notepad icon)
The preview image stays as .jpg

The easies way to makesure you open the .scn file with notepad
is to right click or the first window ask you..what application you
want to use to open .scn . Set NOTEPAD as default to open a .scn
file. This way you can just click on a .scn file and it'll automatically
open it with NOTEPAD. That's why it show an Icon on mine.

The same with a .par file when you want to edit a model's parimeter.
The same with the .xml, .obj, .mlt in Heli-x.

anyway,
Drag those 3 files into another folder. (.scn, 3d, crash)

Rename the toyosu .SCN file to MasterX...lol (you don't have to).
Then ZIP it. (send to a zip folder)
Now you will have a master template to copy from (drag and drop)

Now just drag those 3 files out of the zip into a new scenery as you make more
sceneries. Convert the skybox images to .bmp and rename accordlingly.

You don't have to extract a scenery folder into FMS.

As long as the content of each scenery is kept in the same folder.
Each scenery must have it's own folder.

The folder acts as a devider.
You don't have to assign the images diiferent names all the the time.
or even remame the .scn file. That's why i just use numbers as names.
This will also allow me to rotate the skybox around quickly and easily.

FMS can retrive a file and run it from anywhere.
Even from an external harddrive, DVD, SD cards....anytype
of data storage device.
As long as the files are not in a ZIP folder.

here's what I'm saying....
in the landscape window menu...click on the arrow pionting down.
it will bring up a tree path instead of looking in the current folder.

if you decide to go with bigger pixels
2048x2048 .bmp files will be at 70-90 mb. It'll use up your
hard drive disc space really fast, if you don't have a bigger harddrive.
You can store some of your sceneries into a disc or a DVD.
DVD are 4.3 gig per disc
Plus your work will be in a save place if your PC crashed.

Posistion the model and adjusting the( camera's view) pilot

Postby smcxx66 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:08 pm

Incase it gets displayed not to your liking.
Use NOTEPAD to open the .scn file.

By adjust the number in the first colume...this will position the
model up or down (in or out / biger or smaller) of the scenery.
Notice the model will always get display at the CENTER of the screen
as a starting piont.

example I put in 30 and the model got pushed out

Now I put a negative 5 ..this will put the model on the opposite side
or behind you. It will also change the direction the model is facing.
Notice the model is now facing to the rigth.

If you still want the model to be facing the same direction but want
to change the view of the scenery...that's what I ment by rotating
the skybox...shuffle the sides images around by assign it a defferent number.
The top and bottom panel retains the same name, but you have to
rotate them. Use a paint software or artweaver to rotate them 90 deg
or 180 degree..or whatever you need to.

By changing the number of the third colum of the pilot's position
this will raise or lower the camera..this will give a differnent perspective
of the pano and the model..the model will look bigger or smaller.
This is very important becuase not everyone use the same methode when
taking a pano...That camera's pod might be set at different hieght
or some pano are hand helded taking photos. Different cameras and lense being used. You can adjust this to get a better perspective of the scenery or make the models match the sceneries better.
you can use it to scale a model size

To set up for slope sceneries...basically you want to lower the ground
or crash pionts. Do this...
Give the last colume of the model's position a vaule.
Lower the quads. Notice I changed the vaule from 30 to -25.
You can lower it as much as you want.

I'm using this pano as an example because it took almost 2 years for
the aurther of this pano to obtain this arial shot. he almost lost his
camera in the process. It's the first time I've seen a complete 360x180
arial panorama. i think it's pretty neat. You can get the pano from
Flickr.com . The aurthor name is ALDO. There's a link of a story of how
he obtain this arial panorama. It's done by Remote control.
