Wind

Wind

Postby mclags » Sat Mar 12, 2011 3:49 am

Hi all, I'm new to flight sims and model flying in general. Just wondering if there is an add-on to simulate wind on the landscapes. I need to practice my crosswind take-offs and landings. Cheers

No add-on needed. Try the top menu - Simulation/Wind Options. That's if you're using FMS 2 Alpha 8.5.

More information on the wind:

The plane always faces West on startup, so if you set the wind direction to 270, it will be blowing straight down the runway. The wind speed is in Meters/Second so a setting of 2 or 3 will give you an approximate wind speed of 13 or 20 mph.

Good flying.

I have version 2 beta 7, cant find anything to do with wind settings. only thermal options, updraft and bubbles
Can I do wind or do I need to upgrade version? Which one?

Download version 8.5 from the download section of this site. Make sure you completely remove the old version first or it will not work.

Version 8.5 will not run if you do not have a com port (9-pin serial connector) on your computer. If this is the case, do a search for "com port" in the Board Index and follow the instructions.

Good luck.

Yes - check back in this section - Landsacapes. Treehugger mentions where to get some really good ones in one of his previous messages.
