The simplest fix for the ecomport error is to install a USB to 9-pin serial converter. It makes a COMx port, no other fixes needed. Just plug it in and forget it exists. Then you don't have to muck around with Windows tech stuff. -- ggunners

I'm using windows 7 home premium, and I can't find "Add a new hardware device."
Windows stay looking for a new device for a long time.

No patches, click the RC Groups link in the above post, download the files and follow the directions. -- ggunners

Great. thanks for the detailed resolution. set up the com port and copied d3drm.dll and all issues solved in win 8.1
