Yes you are using an 2.8 model and it's classed as IC.
You must load or initialise such a model with the throttle OPEN to tickover. With an IC model (2. if you close the throttle the engine stops and won't restart by opening the throttle. Just like a real one. If it's classed as Electric the motor starts when opening the "throttle" from stopped. Just like a real one.
If you look at the size of the .par file in fms\model then if it's 2k it's a 2.7 model. If it's 12k to 20k it's a 2.8 model. 2.7 models will fly in 2.8 but not vice versa.
