FMS Windows ME

For the live of me I cant get FMS to work on my windows me system. I have a GWS usb cable and a DX6i I am working with. I tried to calabrate in windows game controler but nothing work as it should. I tried both the beta 7 and the 8.5 and ether one works. I have tried all the different combos with the numbers. Most of the time I have no tail control and left roll but no right roll and just one elev eather forward or back but not both.
Been messing with this for a week with no sucess. Any one running FMS on a ME system have any tips. When I try to calabrate in windows game controler no rudder works there eather and it looks like a joy stick with a hat switch and non of the switches on the DX6i do anything.
