Windows 7 64-bit

Windows 7 64-bit

Postby ChopperFlyer » Fri Dec 18, 2009 4:23 am

I am trying to run the ESky setup with FMS software and the ESKY controller.
On Windows 7 things have changed considerably but I did find the game controller and did the adjustment. So the controller is seen by the operating system.
In the selection window I get the Joystick selected (would be nicer if it used the OS description) and it is seen by the game adjustment window.
But when I run the sim the helicopter will not take off. I tried moving all joysticks to see if it was a mapping issue. It wasn't.

Any suggestions?

It would help if YOU used the simulator terminology but if by "game adjustment window" you mean the FMS mapping/calibration screen :

- did you complete calibration in there ?
- all blue bars moving correctly ?
- set the channel numbers on RH side to match the blue bars that move ?
- do planes work even if helis don't ?

if so then set the bottom 4 channel numbers correctly...because they're the ones which control helicopters

It was late in the evening when I posted so in answer to your question, yes I used the calibration window, I set the throttle to 3 which is the throttle on my control and copied the numbers to the bottom correctly. I have not tried a plane yet as I bought this to practice heli's.

The bars in the calibration window respond to the controller exactly as they do in the windows calibration window.

Hi ChopperFlyer,

In the FMS controller setup, the top four channels shown are for flying planes and the bottom four channels are for helicopter flying. Did you copy the mapping from the top four to the bottom four?

PROBLEM FIXED!

I uninstalled FMS and installed ClearView. A modern simulator that knows what 3D modeling and modern operating systems is all about.

Bye guys.

Anyone get this simulator to work in Windows 7 64-bit? I'm having trouble getting the virtual serial port to work also. I have a old Eflite Blade and controller that I am playing with and need to get back into practice before I try to fly it again.

I have a powerful Win 7 Pro 64 bit system. When I plug in the USB cable/simulator, Windows installs a driver successully. When I start the FMS program, I get the error "Win Error Code 2". I have scan the registry and it is fine. I should have a current BIOS. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get by this error?

The above was posted by another "victim" of this FMS... Im having same problem... it seems to be an installation problem in the Win-7 64 registry. Any chance the writers of this software could (finally) post a patch for win-7/64 ? Anybody else have a fix for this thing?

Yes - run it on your old computer in XP. That way you can still use all the other software you have that Windows7 so conveniently obseleted!

You should also be able to run FMS within a Win32 virtual machine or window or so I have heard from others.

Alas, I am still a WinXP person.

I too am having this trouble with a windows 7 64 bit. Same error. The controller is recognized, and the movements seem to work fine on the calibration screen within windows, but the program won't open, I get that error. Any fix for this? I tried running in windows compatibility mode, but to no avail.

Windows Error Code #2. Error Message: System cannot find specified file.

Sounds like a directory error or perhaps a path error that happens with Win7 64-bit.

Try installing FMS in a different directory other than "Program Files". I recall reading
that Win 7 uses a hidden shadow directory for "Program Files".
