bad disk?

i got the simulator with my plane yesterday, but when i try to run the FMS.exe (install), it hangs on 11% then says it cant read the file FMS.exe. when i try to manually copy files (like landscapes) over to the hard drive, it hangs up too. is there a location to download a disk copy of the program? need some help to get started.

FYI, i have a Vista pro machine.

Download and install version 2 alpha 8.5 from the . You may also want to install in a C:\FMS directory to avoid some issues with Vista and Win7. Install with Admin permissions too. I don't have Vista or Win7 so I hope others will jump in with recommendations. -- ggunners

I too seem to be having the same or similar problem that all vista users are having. I bought my heli today and today and decided to install the FMS program first thing. When I tried to install it I get a windows errror message (with no error message number) just stating that windows had encountered a problem and would quit the installation. It then said that if a solution to the problem was found they would notify me.
Well by reading all the entrys on this forum there seems to be a big problem trying to install this program under windows xp vista. Can someone tell me why the FMS has not looked into resolveing these issue xp and vista since they have been out on the market for years now.
Getting back to my problem is there someone out there that has come across this problem and one who has a solution for it.

FMS was last updated in 2004. The developers have purposefully left it as alpha code with no support. That means we, the FMS community, support it as best we can.

Others have had some success installing FMS on the newer operating systems. Make sure you are installing as Admin, install the software someplace other than the usual Program Files directory, try running FMS in XP compatibility mode. Also, beware the other known problems with the Ecomport error needing a com port and some graphics issues with newer Nvidia drivers.
