windows-7

Postby BIG-O » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:17 pm

I have been through this forum and tried several things but I am still unable to get FMS to start up. I am getting the Exception EComRort in module FMS.exe at 0008AFEC. Registry error (win error code:2) As I said before I have tried to follow the steps outlined in other posts with no success. I can not for instance figure out how to get this version of windows to open control panel in classic mode like I could in other versions of windows. As you can tell I am not very good with computers but I can follow directions, so could someone please give me the step by step procedure to get this program to start. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 -bit and have downloaded FMS Version 2.0 Alpha 8.5 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP). Anny help is greatly appreciated.

The simplest way is to buy a USB to 9-pin serial com port adapter and plug it in. Otherwise, you will need some PC tech expertise to overcome the eCOMport error. -- ggunners

I got the program to start but all the monitor does is flicker and it will not show the model. When I hit view the landscape becomes clear but still no model. Suggestions please and thanks for the advice on the other problem

This sounds like a graphics setting. Try running FMS in WinXP mode or play around with your graphics card settings and/or your FMS graphics settings. I have no WinVista or Win7 experience. When all else fails, I recommend ClearView $40 sim as a nice upgrade supporting the new versions of Windows. -- ggunners

I guess you are wright about clear-view, it seems that no-one here with windows 7 is willing to help someone get FMS to work.

There are software solutions and registry setting solutions too. I find the simplest is to plug in a USB to serial port converter. Search for the ecomport error and you'll find several items. -- ggunners

Which method did you use?

Any flickering with your video card?
