Windows 7 has many known issues with a lot of programs.
First use FMS 2 alpha 8.5. It will fly FMS 2.7 and FMS 2.8 models and has improved flight physics since 2004.
With Win7, it is many times better to install an older program in a directory other than C:\ Program Files\ because Win7 virtualizes that directory and causes complications with needed files being found.
Next look at .
You will need a COM port defined in your registry. See the WinXP link above.
You probably need the d3drm.dll or have Win7 install DirectX 9.
There may be issues with some Nvidia graphics card drivers and a couple posts discuss work-arounds.
I do NOT personally have Win7 as I'm avoiding the expense and hassle of upgrading right now.
