FMS 2.0 7 & 8.5 crash hard on XP SP3

FMS crashes my XP/SP3 PC. The window opens and i hear what seems to be engine noise, then I hard crash to a re-boot and checkdisc finds corrupted files.

I have downloaded and run HW Virtual Serial Port, opening a port (Com 4) and hiding it and it makes no difference. I have downloaded and installed both 2.0 7 and 2.0 8.5 with no difference; they both crash the same way upon running the executable. I get no error messages.

I have run FMS on this system before, but it has been a couple years.

Not much to go on there Orca. I run FMS on several machines XP SP3. Most with older but capable graphics cards.

I would suspect a graphics driver, but do not know your system. I had one graphics card that would crash my computer when it went into 3D mode, it turned out to need a power cable for the graphics card itself.

If FMS ran before, it should run again. The code has not changed since 2004.

Have you added anything else recently? Could be antivirus or some such thing. Are you running with Admin privileges? I can't think of anything else right off.
