Blocky DOS type landscape grahics on vista

Unfortunately, this is a rather well known problem with Vista and Nvidia graphics hardware and software. Apparently, the problem, i.e., flashing white screen when the textures are checked in the graphics window - on the top bar. If "texture" is not checked the screen will have the blocky textures that you (and many others) have described. The problem apparently does not exist when Vista is used with non-Nvidia graphics hardware - AMD for example.
Some posters have said they have a solution - search for "flashing and Vista in FMS for some of these solutions. But my impression is that nothing solves the problem completely, i.e., without some remaining issues.
So my new HP laptop with Vista uses Clearview and Phoenix, and the 7 other sims reside on my self-assembled desktop.
