Linux/GL version? - a Linux port of FMS, anyone interested?

Seems like FMS development has stalled? I'd love to see an open source r/c simulator, and preferably one that runs on linux.

Please FMS crew, open source your code, the world will be a better place then;-)

If not, any coders out there willing to start from scratch?

Yes, it seems that you are correct. You might want to check out http://crrcsim.sourceforge.net/ I found it after trying FMS, and other then it not having as many models etc, it really is a very nice model flight sim. All open source, packages available that should work for almost everyone, and of course you can compile your own.

Best Regards,

I think http://crrcsim.sourceforge.net/ is the best bet as this FMS project seems dead.

It seems the development for crrsim is quite slow too. I think it's because people haven't got their eyes on it yet. Another flaw of this sim is that it doesn't feature helicopters, which is very important for me to train on. Anyway, I got my eyes on a sim called RAS which is based on crrsim, though very badly it is only supporting Windows at this time and worse it is not available for download yet. But shows very nice graphics! I hope anyone of you Linux guys can help the devs with the development and pressure them to support Linux!

Add me to the list of people wishing this could be open sourced and ported to Linux. If you're going to make it freeware, why not go all the way and make it free to modify, understand how it works, and port to different platforms?
