Control becomes instable... - ... when plane is near the ground

Hi!

I'm using FMS 2.07 Beta on Win98 with the simple parallel interface. Calibrating works fine. Flying works fine also, as long as the background is simple sky. When the plane comes near the ground, so that background contains hills, trees, etc., the control reacts very slow, if at all. The frame rate is at least about 40 frames per second.

It seems as if the video card or the driver is the problem, but I can't figure out what causes this behaviour. I've installed DirectX 8.1 and the DirectX-diag gives no errors.

Any hints?
