Hey All,
It may be possible to write a kernel mode driver for the parallel port interface for Windows 2000/XP, since this makes it possible to access IRQ's and IO ports directly. I guess the driver could present itself as a multi-axis joystick so any sim that works with joysticks could read it.
I would like to attempt writing one of these, but I don't feel like re-inventing the wheel, so I was wondering if there is source code available for the current parallel port polling scheme that works on Win95/98. I would like to shamelessly rip off the code that does PPM decoding once the signal transitions are known .
If I pull this off, I'll make the driver free/open source so anyone can use it. I've written drivers before, just not for windows, but this seems like a simple one. I'll post it when I'm successful and my windows box does not crash .
