Best interface option to use?

Hi all,

I would like to give FMS a try Version 2 Beta 7. Which interface solution gives the best results (Best feel / resolution) ie Parallel, USB, Serial etc for a Windows 2000 / XP operating system and Futaba ZAP transmitter.

I would prefer to build my own if there are circuit diagrams available.

Any advice / experiences would be appreciated.

If you only want to use your transmitter with FMS and running win2k or XP you will have to use the PIC interface.

Another new interface is the one using the soundcard as input. This is very new and not guaranteed trouble free.

If you want to fly other simulators too, then you need either an interface to the gameport or an usb interface.

With W2k you need a PIC serial interface. If you have access to a programmer you can find suitable code in the FMS directory \Doc\PIC Serial. If you get stuck see my website for various serial interfaces including PIC serial.

Remember you can use the Joystick, Audio or PIC interface circuits with Win 2K.
Then there is always the keyboard (mostly just to see if things work or before you get any interface working).
