Airtronics Vanguard FM - How do I interface an Airtronics?

Does anyone know how to interface an older Airtronics Vanguard FM 6-channel transmitter to FMS? It has a 5-pin DIN buddy plug.

I've tried many variations on the notes included with FMS and have had no luck. This model dates from the early 90's, so it may differ from current Airtronics models.

Success! OK, here's the deal. My Vanguard FM had a burned out diode so it wasn't doing the buddy thing at all. Once I replaced the diode, I began to see signals on pin 3 of the buddy connector.

To use this with a parallel port, you'll need to invert the signal with this single transistor circuit:



I have previously had success with this circuit using a transistor from Radio Shack "NPN Switching Transistors" selection, part RS 276-1617.
