It sounds like the only thing you have left to try is to get into the BIOS setup and check that your parallel port is set up in ECP or EPP mode, which is what you'd expect unless it's a very old system. Either of those will do but I believe SPP (?) will not work (never tried it myself).

Hi! I set the bios to ecp and epp and they both didn't work either. I just don't know what else to do. Has anyone ever not gotten theirs to work, or did something really off the wall? Would appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks!

If all else fails you can try the serial option with virtually the same circuit. See my website for details.
