PIC interface - PC locking up

I've only recently discovered the joys of the FMS sim and am now hooked on it! However, at first I was using my joystick/keyboard to control it without any problems but have now purchased the excellent PIC serial interface produced by Mike Roberts, since installing this lead I've been getting problems with the sim locking up my PC, this usually happens after a crash when the sim resets itself but then my PC is completely frozen, the only way out it to hit the reset button. I'm using WinXP, and the same day I installed the interface I also Installed the XP service pack 1. I don't think the lead is to blame but am at a loss as to where to look

re: above problem, I think I've found the cause. I have a Nostromo USB game pad on PC, but since un-plugging this device the problem hasn't appeared
