If you have access to a pic programmer, check out Erics page or the FMS manual.
If not do not have access to a programmer, you need to either obtain a porgrammer, obtain a programmed pic or purchase a completed uint.

The pic is small microprocessor controlled chip, that contain it own processing unit , input and output controls (in its basic form). This chip needs to be programmed with the instructions telling it what it is required to do. These instructions take the PPM signal from your tx and convert them into a format FMS understands and then injects it into the serial port.
