Msoft Sidewinder Precision Pro problem - Can't get the joystick interface to work

Have a Sidewinder Precison Pro Joystick and can't get the joystick to work. When I try to set the joystick control and calibrate I get an access violation in FMS.exe and then it gets hung and I can't get out of the program and have to restart. Any ideas would be helpful. By the way this happens with the USB option of the joystick

Does the joystick work ok in the windows "Control Pannel' setup test?

I am having the same problem, both with the current Beta and the recent Alpha. I am running on XP Home and connecting the joystick through a USB adapter. Here's what is happening...

The joystick seems to calibrate correctly both from the XP Control Panel and from inside FMS. However, the movements of the joystick do not match up to the aircraft...

Elevator (stick forward and back): appears correct.
Rudder (Z rotation of handle): acts like the throttle.
Ailerons (stick left and right): controls the rudder.
There is a throttle wheel to the left of the base on the stick that acts instead like some sort of aileron trim.

Change the ORDER of the numbers in the FMS calibration panel to whatever you need.

I use a Futaba Tx and I have mine set to:

Rudder 4
Elevator 2
(Right stick)
Aileron 1
Throttle 3
(Left stick)
(These are AIRCRAFT settings)

Tail 4
Nick 2
(Right stick)
Roll 1
Pitch 3
(Left stick)
(These are HELICOPTER settings)

Note that only the first 4 blue columns actually move up and down when calibrating. Don't worry about it!

Ticking exp (exponential) can help a LOT with helicopter flying <g>
