USB port?

Postby andre » Thu Jan 24, 2002 12:11 am

Hi,

Just wondering if joysticks that are labelled as USB will work with FMS, or do they have to work with the gameport?

Thanks,
Andre

Well i think they should work, because windows makes the device a joystick. As for instance a webcam becomes a imaging device, windows recognizes the usb device as a joystick. So if everything works out ok, the analog joystick from the gameport should be the same as the usb joystick

I'm using a Game Station style gamepad which is connected to the USB port, so it does work. The pads software configures it to the game port, and one can program pad functions. You can then program both joysticks to what you want as well as switches, etc.

Have you tested it with FMS? I think the analog "axis" should work, but the buttons could become a problem.

I have a Microsoft Force Feedback 2 joystick which works fine for both heli and fixed wing in version 2.0 beta 6 but in beta 7 it only works with fixed wing! Has anyone else come across this problem? It is the USB version of the stick. :-(

In version 7 there are 8 input channels.
Channels 1-4 worl like before for planes.
Use channels 5-8 for helicopters.
NOTE:
You can assign input channels from you radio to more than one channel.

If you just copy your assignment for channels 1-4 to the channel 5-8 inputs you will be real close and be able to do the final corrections.
