Is there a correct way to operate the sticks of the Tx?

should one operate the sticks with the thunbs on top of the sticks or hols them like a pencil?
Is there a correct way to operate them for the best results?

IWAS TAUGHT TO FLY HOLDING THE STICK LIKE A PENCIL. NO THUMBS ON TOP OF STIKS. TO ME ITS THE SAFEIST WAY NO CHANCE OF THUMBS SLIPPING OFF THE STIKS
