Can I build a hitec - USB cable?

I'd like to save US$50 and build my own hitec transmitter to USB cable. If it is only a copper and solder operation I can do this but if I need silicon logic I'll forget it. Assuming this, does anyone have a pinout? Is the hitec transmitter socket a standard type plug? Thanks, Gordon

Looking further, I see that there generally is a little box inserted in the cable which must be the silicon I mentioned. I found the following link on ebay for a hitec USB sim cable with a "bid for price" button and a "buy it now" price of $38.

Please respond if you know if another way to do the interface.

Thanks for the info about the sound card input. I found another source on ebay that has a futaba/hitec usb cable for about US$5.99 in Hong Kong. With shipping it came to $13.99. Takes up to 14 days to get it. Just search for some of these words:

That's really cheap. I had to buy a USB cable when I went to Vista. It was $NZ59. Works well, though, so not complaining. Good luck with yours.
