FMS finds my G2 controller in the Joystick cal dialog, calibrates it, but doesn't use it - any suggestions?

When you calibrate the G2 controller, you'll probably notice that channels 5-8 are the ones moving. You need to then map the control surfaces to these channels.

I am new to heli and I am trying to use a Real Flight G2 non interlink contoller with FMS. I have a game port to USB adaptor between the contoller and the computer. Will it work? When I calibrate in control panel, game adaptor it seems to work correctly, but when I get to FMS all the channels jump around. Could really use some help. Thanks
