E-sky EK2-0905A - USB not showing up at all

I just received this EK2-0905A. Manufacturer TWF Hobby.

Win XP Pro - SP2

I spent 2 hours reading through all the posts here. Tried most of the suggestions but this unit will not show up in the HID or USB device list. Tried every USB port, tried shutting down/restarting. Uninstalled USB and HID devices. I have tried it on this computer, my laptop and and old Win2000 box. Nothing on any of them.

Would this mean the unit is defective? Or am I completely missing something?

On a side note, once I learn to fly on this sim(if I can get it to work or replaced) what is a good quality helicopter? I was thinking of purchasing a Esky 6 CH Honey Bee King 2 II. Any pros/cons/other suggestions.
