Don't try to calibrate it using Windows/Control Panel/Game controllers. Just run FMS. select Controls/Analog Control and do the channel mapping and calibration according to the instructions. It should work. If any control is reversed tick the box under the heading 'Inv'. If you want exponential to soften the control around neutral (say aileron) tick the box under 'Exp' beside the aileron channel.

I hadn't noticed that channel mapping was different for different operating systems, but the channel numbers certainly vary between brands of transmitters. Over the past couple of months I have installed FMS on the home computers of eight of our R/C Club members, using Hitec, JR, Futaba, and Spektrum transmitters. In each case, either the channel numbers or the 'Inv' settings were different.
Incidentally, we have found that the best model to simulate the performance of the common high-wing ARF trainer is "gptrh". It can be found in the 'Updata' folder on the supplied disk. Copy all five files into your 'model' folder and try it out.
