I probably bought the same cable. It is a 'Dynam' brand and came from Hongkong. It was advertised as suitable for JR, Futaba and Esky. When plugged into my JR X-388S it calibrated OK on elevator, rudder and aileron, but there was no response to throttle (channel 1). The FMS planes would fly under perfect control, but only at full throttle. I complained to the supplier and he immediately posted another, which was exactly the same - no throttle response. I then tried it with a borrowed Futaba radio, and it was OK on all channels.
I don't understand what you mean by "Some of the files on the drivers disc has the boxes for file names."
You need to connect the cable to your Tx, then plug the USB connector into your PC. The first time you do this Windows should report a Human Interface Device and load a driver automatically. Thereafter, when you plug it in, Windows does not react. Just load FMS, calibrate and map the channels according to the instructions on the disc and you should be away.
What radio are you using? If it is a like a JR with SPCM and PPM (FM) modulation selection you must select PPM.
