Flash5x - antenna down or up?

Once I get my interface built, I'll be using a Hitec Flash5x. I have read somewhere that I should possibly a) remove the crystal b) disable the transmitting functions or c) remove the antenna or d) make sure my antenna is fully extended so I don't burn the radio out.

I will be using this in my house, 8 miles from the flying field and 4 miles from the nearest park. Do I need to do any of the above to play FMS with my Hitec?

You can safely do either a) or d). b) is also good if you know how to do it. I think it's just connecting pin 4&5 but I don't have a Hitec Tx handy to check. Not a) together with not d) will kill the Tx.

a) or b) will also reduce the power used so you won't have to charge the Tx so often.

I have a Futaba Skysport Radio. Should I be removing my crystal? I don't want to damage my transmitter.
