New user problems - windows xp controller problems

It is a 25 pin connector. I don't even know what PPM stands for. I don't see anything that allows me to choose PPM. Cory

Cory, I don't if your problem has been solved yet, but it appears that you don't have a com port installed. Try running the the ADD new hardware Wizard on the Control Panel to see if Windows picks it up. On most of the newer PCs, the com port is intergrated into the motherboard.(main board). If you have a 9 pin D shape female connector on the back of your PC and the com port still does not show up after running the hardware Wizard, then it may be you BIOS setting. You need to consult your manual or HP tech support on how to check and change your BIOS settings.

I, too, am having this problem, having upgraded from win98 to xp. I have the 25 pin parallel cable which worked fine with 98. Virtualflight.com does not offer support for xp (which is where I ordered my parallel cable).

[This is confirmed in the troubleshooting guidelines . . "For windows XP/2000 you will want to highlight "serial PIC interface".] This link is incomplete.

What am I to do? Is this cable useless? Where do I get a series cable for Futaba? Which version of FMS do I use if I get the cable figured out?

Do a search here or on Google for PPJoy. It's a program that will allow an old parallel port cable to be used with Win XP (usually).
