Help please for a beginner with FMS, absolutely stuck. Running windows XP with SP2. ESKY 0404 transmitter and FMS V.2.0 Alpha 8.3 as supplied on CD provided with my Lama V3. Also supplied a connector from rear of transmitter (presumably RS232 ?) to USB at the other end; the USB end clearly has logic in it which is presumably RS232 serial to USB conversion ? No setup documentation at all for the FMS. When I select [Controls] [Analogue control...] [Joystick interface] [Mapping/Calibration] the left 2 channels respond to the forward and backward movement of the left and right joysticks on the transmitter. But left/right movement does nothing. I wasn't very surprised over this as a joystick normally has only 2 axes. So I then chose, for the interface, [Serial PIC interface] which looked hopeful. But then when in [Mapping/calibration] movement of either of the transmitter joysticks in any direction produced no movement whatever of the calibration bars. Also, when in the [Joystick] mode, although channel 1 and 2 bars moved, this had no effect whatsoever on the model on the screen.
In the absence of any literature (perhaps somebody could point me to some) I guess that the INV box against each channel indicates INVERT, namely reverse the control direction. But what does an EXP check-box do.
I am puzzled by the channel mapping titles. The first 4 entries are quite clear, Rudder, Elevator, Aileron, Throttle. So why are these apparently repeated, albeit in different terms, for the second 4 entries, Tail, Nick, Roll, Pitch; and what on earth does Nick indicate; some sort of translation funny perhaps ?
Finally, if I can get the other 2 controls directions working, how does one know how to map a particular channel to a particular helicopter control; just by trial and error or . . ?
I doubt if anything is wrong with the transmitter as it works well with the model.
Many questions but I would be most grateful if somebody could spare the time to assist.
