WIN XP Blues

I am running windows XP. I have made myself a parallel and a serial rc adapter for a JP radio, and both dont work at all. I then installed on a friends PC running win 98, and the serial interface works 100% (I never tested the parallel, serial works fine). Is there anything I can do to make Windows XP "see" the serial port, or do I have to go back to 2000?

Any helpfull comments will be very much appreciated.

They won't work on Win2000 either. For any of the NT-based OSs you need the new PIC interface or a joystick i/f. It's all in the FMS documentation.

I have spent a lot of time researching this, but I came to a dead end when it came to the PIC interface, which I have complete plans for but lack the knowledge and tools to burn a PIC chip with the supplied HEX dump.

I'm hoping someone will come up with an answer for XP/2000 that the average joe soap (me) can implement.
