sporadic system hang up - win98 Computer hangs up sporadically

I tested FMS on Windows 2000 machine (Intel 800)with an onboard Graphics card (Intel) - everything works fine (good performance, no hang ups). Then I tested FMS on a AMD 900 machine with a TNT2 graphics card (32MB) on Windows 2000 - the machine got very slow. I tested the same configuration with an Win 98 OS - and the system runs really fast. In both cases the newest directX 8a and driver for the graphics card were used. Has somebody an idea?

Although I FMS is running fast on the Windows 98 configuration the system hangs uip non periodically. Sound is still on but the system can only be restarted by turning off the power supply.
As describes above i have an AMD 900 PC with 512MB RAM, an NVIDIA TNT2 graphics card. There is also an SCSI an an Network card installed. What can I further do (directx 8a and newest driver) to resolve this problem.

I have the same problem with my system hanging. I have Win98 DirectX 8.0, Voodoo5 5500, Sidewinder 3D, AMD K6-2 400, Yamaha sound. It locks up after about 2 minutes or so of working normally and I have to power down.

I downloaded a newer driver for my Voodoo 5 5500 and now it seems to be working fine! No more lockups. The driver is 4.12.01.0666 released on 11-06-2001.
Great software...keep up the good work!

Hias , try a new driver for your graphics adapter (not the driver from MS since it does not make use of the 3D features). Check the hardware vendor homepage for a better driver
