I great sim! I have been trying to understand how to design/change model characteristics and geometry. But, there seems to be very little info and what there is, is very porely tranlated into English!
I sure would like to get acess to more detail of how to change things!
Another confusing issue is why are there two model file configuations?One is all in *.mdl the other is in 3 files *.par & *.geo & *.bmp. I've tried mixing them I can't get it to work!
As for colors changes in the *.BMP file well, after much trial and eroor I basically gave up! Also some colors are in the *.geo file.
VERY CONFUSING!
Any Help anyone?

the MDL format comes from the fms DOS version. It isn't very flexible and doesn't support texture, different sound etc. There are already many file format's out there, and we do not develop on this any futher. The current fms can still read it, to be able to use old models.
The par/geo/bmp/wav files are more general. The main file is the par-file containing the flight parameters. The geo (describes the 3d visual) is compatible to the Aerofly geo file, but does support some additional features like transparent parts. With the geo you can make a completely colored model, but you can only color one triangle at once. Fro the use of texture you can add a bmp, and map it onto your model in the geo.
The 3d-geometry (geo + bmp(optional)) can also be replaced by a .x (DirectX RM file) and textures (for example .bmp).
