Is there anyway to convert a beta 7 model to an alpha 8?

I tried adding version info, and 'AIRPLANE', but that doesn't work either.

Is there default numbers of values, ie the first 5 are general, next 6 are wing etc etc?

I just installed alpha 8, and find it better than beta 7, especially with ground contact and landings... Too bad I can't use over half my planes.
