plane disappears above 300m - 3GHZ Dell ATI Radeon 9800 XT

My planes disappear above 300 meters height. An reappear when they get below 300m. Known problem? Any fixes?

That's where you meet the clouds I guess.

No, not the clouds. It seems like the plane goes past the end of the world at 300m AGL.

and if you go somewhat higher it reappears in a white environnement, it looks normal to me. Clouds.

I changed view mode to "chase" and then I could follow the planes past the 300m barrier. Flipping between chase and autozoom modes at 300+ meters the plane would be visible in chase mode but not in normnal mode. Still weird to me.
