Hi again....

yepp, ati driver version is 4.7

i tried 8.3 and 8.1 both are doing the same. thats why i wrote 8.x

scenery is default - so it should be world.scn

model is the three dee - but actually i don`t know where this information should be saved.

i used uninstall serval times, cause you can`t install a newer version, as long the old one is still installed.

and yepp, i delted everything related to fms by hand out of the regestry.

i got a new error pic for you (strange, because i changed nothing...):

Without knowing the FMS code, I'm just guessing, but it looks like a device error on a Comm port. Tell us a little bit more about your machine. Have you run DXDIAG? It has loads of information. How's your device list (Ports COM & LPT)? Does it have any "?" entries? Any devices named EComPort? Any special game controllers on your machine? If so, what kind and what drivers?

You might try removing devices and trying FMS to see which one might be causing the problem.

One thought, is your machine one without legacy LPT & COM ports?

Flightbase,

OK, lets try something else. Lets figure out what's the same about all your computers you've tried. My guess is it's the version of the OS and the language/country files specific to your region. We'll need the authors of the comm port library to see if there's an upgrade or a patch for Win SE with your language/country files.

I've run FMS on numerous Win98, Win2K, WinXP machines without problems. Others have too. Something is certainly strange but points to an inability to read the comm port registry entries. Maybe Roman can tell us what strings the routine is looking for when it throws the error? Roman?

Hi,

maybe this crash has to do with my bug report I did urlier today.

I found out FMS will not run without a com port available in your system. Nowadays computers don't always have a COM port at all or poeple shut their COM port off to save resources.

Try to see if your computer has a COM port and if so if it is enabled in your bios. After enabling this port check if FMS is still crashing.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM
looks exactly like that.

my notebook - and my workstation have both com ports, which are enabled.

very strange thing.

michael - are you going to visit the messe in hamburg in dezember? I`ll be there for sure - and i could bring my laptop with me.
