I have just reinstalled Windows 98SE and decided to install the newest version of DirextX. 9.0b that is.
However. First programlaunch crashes. If the computer still is alive then the second try will actually get FMS up and running.
Problems discovered:
* Startup crash
* Some scenery has big black squares inside
* Very, very laggy.
Just to clarify things. Things worked just wonderful before this reinstall. I *think* I have installed DirectX 9.0a back then.
Take care out there.

Guess what. The problem is fixed. By reading some threads here I got the idea to change the gfx driver instead of blaming DirextX9.0b.
I was using nvidia's 44.03 driver but stepped back to 30.82 and then every problem was gone.
This might fix the error: "canvas does not allow drawing" too.
I got that error message aswell.

Seems that after a while most new graphic adapters get problems with FMS, to me this is a sign that FMS is getting old...
