Control problems - FMS runs, but models are uncontrollable

I just installed the latest version of FMS, on my P II 400 mhz machine running Win 98. It installed flawlessly, and comes up fine. But most models do not respond to control, either through my joystick or keyboard commands. I have the same problem on my other 1.7 GHz AMD, also running Win 98.

Several models have this problem--just don't respond at all, and go rolling one way or the other. However, the Silkywind 400 is mostly OK.

I updated my direct X to 8.1. Any suggestions? I really hope to get this to work, as the program is very, very nice.

I withdraw the post. I got the problem fixed, apparently--changing which channel maps to which function did the trick.
