Need help with slow FPS.
I have a computer with the following:
PII 400
256mb of ram
8mb ATI 3D rage pro on board graphics card
win 2000
I have read all of the colums pertaining to this so I have
removed all items from the startup menu. I have up graded to directx 8.1. I have updated the drivers for my card. And I can only get 1-2 FPS with FMS.
After being fustrated I have partitioned my hard drive and have installed win 98 on the partition. I installed directx 8.1 for win 98. I have updated my drivers for my card. And I can only get 12-13 FPS with FMS.
Does anyone have the same problem or does FMS only run on a computer with a 1 gig processor or higher?
Very fustrating because my computer will run computer games that are much, much more complicated just fine!
Any help would be greatly apperciated.

with my old machine, which a had k-6/450 Cpu, 8 mbs 0f video ram and win98, i also got frame rates very similar to yours.....if you want more fps in your machine, i would suggest getting a better video card.

Check your Direct X Software- and Hardware-Rendering with C:\Windows\System\DXDIAG.EXE.
I use FMS with a Athlon 900 and more than 90 FPS (800x600) or 50 FPS (1280x1024).
With my old Pentium II 233 and Matrox Mystique 2MB - 12-16 FPS (800x600).
