W98- Simulated Intereference?!

What a great program this is and thanks to all those involved in it's production and maintenance.

I have a problem using my Futaba Skysport 6 and the serial interface . The symptoms are an intermittent but frequent loss of control.....bit like my real life flying!!! The throttle and direction controls become ineffective and the plane behaves erratically for 2 or 3 seconds , then all is ok for a few seconds and then it goes erratic again. Great practice for flying with co-channel interference , but hard work , particularly when flying the Mig 29.
No other applications are running. Have checked the cable and connections , even remade all the solder joints on the interface board. May be a screening problem.Any ideas please?
