I'm not a electronicus, but I guess I understood something.
You are refering to a zenerdiode of 4.7 volt, this is a zener diode that is limiting the tension to 4.7volt, above that voltage the zenerdiode is conducting the electricity though and creating a loop. Fortunately a resistor (in the case of a paralel-interface : 680 ohm or something) is limiting the current then.
