DB9 connectors

Postby nsi911 » Wed Mar 27, 2002 2:37 am

Hi,

I want to build the pic interface, however I don't know
where I can buy a DB9 connector which is large enough
to hold the PIC chip along with the other components.
Using regular size components.

Would anybody be able to point me to a mail order source ?

Thanks,

J

I don't bother. I just build the circuit on a bit of stripboard and connect to the D-type socket with a few inches of cable. It's not quite as neat as having it built in but it saves you fighting to squeeze things in.

Ken's PIC interface kit for about $15.00 has the connector, parts and cable (free shipping).

I's worth it just for the parts and you get a programmed PIC to boot.

There's no doubt that Ken's kit is excellent value, but there are some of us who still enjoy making things and learning new stuff like how to program PICs etc. It may be the same mentality as building your own models instead of just buying plastic ARTFs :).
