PIC Interface - FMS Serial Data Protocol

Can anyone help me with the protocol used on the serial port.

For 19200, I send FF followed by channel 1 - 8 data. Data ranges are from 1 to 254 for each channel. Is this correct?

Then, I am looking for details on the 9600 baud interface protocol. I also want to include this option in my interface, but I can't get it working correct. I only get feedback from channels 2-4.

Last, what is the purpose of channel 5 - 8 in FMS. Can these channels be used to control something?
