A quick search with google.com (fms protocol simulator cable) gives this doc (I did not check the whole list!), with a description of the protocol:



I did not see this document before, but other ones. I noticed that they give a center (x'80') at 1528 microsec and not 1500!

Yes i started my own devlopment.
Because i had already this RS232 to usb chip from ftdi and the atmega8 it was only a small modifikation on the microcontroller
firmware to integreat this protocol.
I did this yesterday evenning, it works fine. And now i have a lot of fun with playing

i have another question
Is there a way to use this system in comercial games
like revolt.
I tried to do this by using the Girder software which imitates
key presses. This works fine in windows but not in games.
Probebly because they are accecing the keyboard different.
How can i use my RC unit anyway

The general way to control games is the joystick. Preferably USB.
You can find various implementations using a PIC (the joystick HID support is documented by Microchip for their microcontrollers supporting usb).
There are references to projects on this forum.

You can also look at smartpropo that reads a PPM signal through the audio input, and creates a virtual joystick.
This should be valid for most games.
Just a dll to copy in your game's executable directory.
