pic output goes where?

hello
im working on designing my own interface and need some info. what does the software on the pic chip do exactly? also what are the pins of the serial port used with this interface and what are the assignments on the pins.

Try the PIC interface documentation that comes with FMS 2.07. It includes a description, circuit diagrams and the source code for several versions of the PIC software. What else could you need ?

The PIC serial interface measures the length of each pulse and converts this into an 8 bit word which it transmits at 19200 baud during the first 0.7ms or so of the next pulse. The sync pulse is transmitted as hex 'FF', i.e. 255 decimal or 11111111 binary. The data is sent using the normal tx pin 2. The DTR pin 4 is used to provide a negative rail for the output and the RTS pin 7 is used to provide power to the circuit via a resistor, using a zener for regulation.
