Has FMS helped learning to fly actual model helicopter?

Can anyone say categorically if FMS has indeed helped them to learn to fly an actual model helicopter. If so in which way? ie. Is it the small movements needed to fly a model or perhaps the orientation of the heli or any other ways?
I've just got FMS working but if FMS doesn't really help then I might as well spend the time on the actual model heli.

Think about it for a second.....no-one can possibly tell you definitely because no one person has learnt from scratch both with and without using FMS.

I can tell you that the people who turn up at our club having spent hours on FMS seem to learn to fly in the real world more quickly and spending a lot less money on repairs. There are better (more expensive) sims than FMS and their greater realism helps even more.

I'd say the major benefit is just that some of the control actions and responses become fairly instinctive....the primary cause of helicopter crashes is the pause while you try to remember what to do next .

Thanks for an intelligent reply. I was hoping it might be useful to learn on FMS. Do you have the names of any "better" sims and approximate cost that you know of or have been recommended?
