I have a Logitech extreme digital joystick plugged into a game controller interface. How is the best way to set this up? I go through the calibration and all but it won't work right. What do Inv and Exp mean?

Inv = invert, i.e. if throttle up = throttle down in the calibration, this will reverse it.
Exp = exponential, i.e. less sensitive control near the center with full sensitivity at the extremes.
Make sure this joystick is first on the list and then set it up using "Controls" "Analog control" "calibrate".
