SIDEWINDER joystick

I have the SIDEWINDER joystick, but it doesnt work it this sim, I tried every possible way but still doesnt work, can u help me???

Start by going into the Windows Control panel and making sure that the joystick is installed and works correctly. If Windows can see the joystick it will work with FMS.

I also can't get my MS Sidewinder joystick to work in FMS. Every time I pick Joystick and click on the Calibrate button, I get an Access Violation.

The stick works fine in Control Panel and with FS2000. If I don't try to calibrate, it works in FMS too, but wrong assignments: throttle controls elevator (or trim?), ailerons control rudder, rudder controls throttle, etc. Since I can't Calibrate, i can't change these, except by going into the registry.

Can anyone help with a fix or workaround (e.g. what registry entries mean what)?

Okay, I figured it out (thanks to an old post in the Errors forum). Turns out I had a second joystick (configured as the first) in Control Panel / Game Controllers. I removed it from there, and now everything's fine in FMS!
